MOF Debate 2 – To AI or not to AI, That’s the final question! The Promise and the Perils

Ministry of Finance in collaboration with MAD Talks organised three innovation debates held at the Johara Ballroom in Madinat Jumeirah Dubai on 26th March 2018.

In Debate 2 the proposition was ‘To AI or not to AI, That’s the final question! The promise and the perils’. Dr Noah Raford, futurist in chief of Dubai Future Foundation was for AI and the advantages it will bring to society. Opposing Dr Noah Raford, was James Barrat, an author, film maker and expert on AI as he emphasised the dangers of AI taking over humanity and the job issues due to this society will face in the future. The debate was led and curated by Tariq Qureishy, Founder & CEO of MAD Talks.

Mogens Jensen, Professional Mountaineer & Motivational Speaker

Mogens Jensen is an adventurer, a professional mountaineer and a former triathlete for the Danish National Team. Mogens Jensen started out as a professional Triathlete for the Danish National Team and due to severe breathing problems he went to the doctor and was diagnosed with asthma. In 2007 Mogens returned and reached the top of the world, setting the record as being the first asthmatic mountaineer to climb Mount Everest without supplementary oxygen.

In this interview Mogens talks with the Tariq Qureishy about the power of the mind and willpower and how he is driven to help others reach their goals even if you fail.

Tariq Qureishy was the MC and Moderator for the Opening Ceremony and CTO Summit which looked into digitalisation, big data, visualization, mapping, sensor technology and beyond to examine how the latest technological advances will drive new value and solutions for Oil and Gas. Kate Sweetman, Founding Principal of SweetmanCragun Group

Kate Sweetman is the Founding Principal and Chief Client Officer of the SweetmanCragun Group. She previously was an editor of the Harvard Business Review and is currently working at The Legatum Centre for Development and Entrepreneurship at MIT. She has also been an advisor at Yale’s Women Leadership Initative. Kate was named the Emerging Guru by the London Times and is listed among Thinkers50 for her work.
